Back in Black 40th anniversary: AC/DC on writing ‘difficult’ Bon Scott tribute | Music | Entertainment

Back in 1980, AC/DC singer Bon Scott suddenly died at just 33-years-old. The band hired Brian Johnson as their new singer and set about writing an album in mourning, but also celebrating, their dead band member. The result was Back in Black, the best-selling band album of all time.

Today marks Back in Black’s 40th anniversary and AC/DC have been releasing a mini-documentary series about the album on their official YouTube channel.

The latest saw the band chatting about the title track and paying tribute to Bon Scott in the best way possible.

Malcolm (who died in 2017) and Angus Young discussed coming up with the riff, while Brian Johnson spoke of how tough coming up with lyrics was.

He said: “I remember Back in Black was particularly difficult.”
