Chelsea news LIVE: Marina Granovskaia ‘makes move’ to complete striker transfer, £26m move | Football | Sport

Timo Werner talks

Manchester United and Chelsea are both looking to hijack Liverpool’s bid to bring RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner to Anfield.

The Red Devils and Blues have both opened talks with the player’s agent as the Reds hold off on making a formal bid.

Werner, 24, has a £52million release clause in his contract and Liverpool want to assess the financial impact the suspension of football will have on the next transfer window before submitting a formal bid.

However, according to German publication Bild, United and Chelsea are looking to capitalise on Liverpool decision and have opened talks with Werner’s representatives.

Football.london claim Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is the driving force behind the Blues’ interest.
