Chelsea news: Roman Abramovich sets Frank Lampard transfer budget for Kai Havertz and more | Football | Sport

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will reportedly still have plenty of money left to spend, even if he completes a deal for Kai Havertz. Roman Abramovich is set to dig his hands deep into his pockets this summer to give Lampard the best chance of winning silverware with the Blues next season.

The club have already made two major statements in the transfer market, wrapping up deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

There will be plenty more changes to come with Lampard keen to add a left-back, centre-back and new goalkeeper to his ranks.

While Chelsea are set to offload several first team stars this summer to bolster their funds, the club already have access to a pot that soon built up during their transfer ban, which was lifted in December 2019.

According to ESPN, Lampard will be handed a budget of £120million to bolster his ranks this summer.

Chelsea value Havertz at around £73m but Leverkusen want £90m to sanction his exit.

The two clubs are expected to meet somewhere in the middle with Leverkusen open to a sale after missing out on Champions League qualification.

Any deal will still leave Chelsea with money to splash with other areas of the squad set to be placed under the magnifying glass.

Signing a new goalkeeper is now high on the club’s agenda due to the struggles of Kepa Arrizabalaga since lockdown.

The Spaniard was dropped for the final game of the Premier League season with Willy Caballero given the nod between the sticks.

The writing appears to now be on the wall for Kepa and the club will try and offload him before the start of next season.

Chelsea are open to a loan deal with a view to make the transfer permanent. They want to recoup around £50million for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, who cost them £71m in the summer of 2018.

Ajax’s Andre Onana is an option and has been discussed by the club’s hierarchy.

Burnley’s Nick Pope and Dean Henderson of Manchester United are two alternative options.
