Coronavirus news: Iran REFUSES US help as coronavirus pandemic grows | World | News

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei branded the United States’ offer to help with their Coronavirus outbreak as “strange.” He then described US leaders as “charlatans and liars” in a televised address to the Islamic Republic. Iran is the most afflicted country in the Middle East with the outbreak of the lethal disease.

The virus has infected 20’610 Iranian people, and has taken more than 1’500 lives.

Khameni continued his address: “Several times Americans have offered to help us to fight the pandemic. That is strange because you face shortages in America. “

He also referenced a conspiracy theory that America is, “accused of creating this virus.”

“I do not know whether it is true. But when there is such an allegation, can a wise man trust you and accept your help offer?

“You could be giving medicines to Iran that spread the virus or cause it to remain permanently.”

In a press conference on Sunday, President Donald Trump said that the United States were ready and willing to help other countries with their handling of coronavirus.

This included North Korea, Iran and other countries.

“If they need help, we’ll give them help, we are open for helping other countries.”

China and Russia have called on the United States to relieve Iran of sanctions while it tries to fight the virus.

Iran has also released several prisoners over fears of the spread of Coronavirus.

This included US prisoners, and UK-Iranian national Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Some hoped that this would ease tensions between Iran and the US.

Iranian police have said that millions of their people ignored warning against travel.

Khamenei has, however, vowed that Iran would overcome the virus.

Despite alleging without evidence it was ‘specifically built for Iran’, he has called for Iranian’s to stay home and beat the disease.

“The Islamic Republic has the capability to overcome any kind of crisis and challenges, including the coronavirus outbreak.”
