Eat Out to Help Out: How to claim back discount from Government

The discount applies to food and non-alcoholic drinks.

This includes soft drinks and packaged snacks, such as ones served in coffee shops, as long as they are to be consumed immediately on the premises.

Eat Out to Help Out does not apply to alcoholic drinks, tobacco products, food or drink that is to be consumed off the premises, and food or drink that is sold as part of a private party, event or function.

There’s no minimum spend required to get the discount and there’s no limit on the number of times you can use it each day.

Eat Out to Help Out is part of a range of targeted measures brought in by the Chancellor to combat the economic effects of coronavirus – others include a cut in VAT for hospitality and tourism businesses.
