Floyd Mayweather’s uncle rips Mike Tyson for praising Conor McGregor’s boxing skills | Boxing | Sport

Mike Tyson’s hailing of Conor McGregor‘s performance against Floyd Mayweather has been slammed by Jeff Mayweather. In August 2016, the former two-division UFC champion entered the boxing world for a multi-million-pound bout with the Hall-of-Famer, which was aptly dubbed ‘The Money Fight’.

The much-maligned contest went as many expected, with Mayweather stopping ‘The Notorious’ in the tenth round.

What punters didn’t expect, however, was for McGregor to get off to a good start and take the first round.

Tyson was among those impressed by McGregor’s display in his professional boxing debut, which he eulogised during a recent episode of his ‘Hot Boxin’ with Mike Tyson’ podcast.

Tyson’s hailing of McGregor’s display against Mayweather well and truly riled up Jeff, who said on his YouTube channel: “I don’t think Mike Tyson said that s***.

He implied it, but the thing is, did Conor McGregor win? I don’t give a f*** how good he did. Did he win?

McGregor, 31, has been hellbent on exacting revenge on Mayweather from the moment he came up short against the former four-weight world champion.

The Irishman firmly believes he’d get the better of ‘Money’ with a few adjustments to his preparations.

In response to Tyson’s recent praise, McGregor tweeted: “Thank you Mike, and just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd.

“I promise my life on it. It is great to see you back Iron Mike.”

McGregor’s hopes of rematching Mayweather seemingly went up in smoke earlier this month when the Olympian publicly pulled the plug on his latest comeback.

“These are just rumours. I’m retired,” he told Fight Hype TV. “I’m finished with boxing. I stay in shape.

“I am not retired from business. Would I fight with McGregor? People make $370million.

“I make that in one night. I made over $320m twice. It only took me 36 minutes or 28 minutes, something like that.”
