JLS tour 2020: Boyband make HUGE Ed Sheeran revelaton after announcing reunion | Music | Entertainment

JLS, who first shot to fame on X Factor back in 2008, have reunited seven years after going on hiatus. Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill and Oritse Williams will be bringing their hits back to fans on stages across the UK and Ireland later in 2020. The boyband made their name after auditioning for the fifth series of X Factor 12 years ago.

Coming into the competition as a fully-formed four-piece, they wowed the judges and made it all the way to the final, where they lost out on the title to Alexandra Burke.

This didn’t stop them going on to storm the charts, though, and they soon signed to a record label after the final of the ITV singing show.

JLS released their self-titled debut in the summer of 2009, with the first two singles, Beat Again and Everybody in Love, making it to number one.

They scooped up a handful of BRITs and MOBO Awards for their efforts and, a year later, made it to the top of the charts with the lead single from their second album, The Club Is Alive.

In 2013, the band called time on JLS, going their separate ways professionally.

Merrygold became a judge on dance talent show Got To Dance and has also forged a solo career.

Williams moved into production and has also released solo material, while Gill turned to farming, presenting and has also appeared on a number of reality shows, including Celebrity MasterChef.

Homes, meanwhile, is now a TV and radio presenter.

In a new interview on the Heart Showbiz Hub podcast with Ashley Roberts, JLS dropped a bombshell about their career.

Humes revealed the band could’ve got their hands on an Ed Sheeran song in the past, explaining how they missed the chance to have Lego House, one of the singer-songwriters biggest hits, for themselves.

The JLS star recalled seeing a video of Sheeran on stage during a performance, saying: “Ed’s on stage, and as, I say not long ago, and he says, ‘Oh, there was this song I wrote for JLS.’

“And we were like, ‘What?!” he continued.

“And he says, ‘Yeah, about 2000 and whatever I’d written this song and you know it had a bit more of a groovier beat and it was a vibe. I really loved it but JLS obviously didn’t like it and I’m not surprised, they turned it down.’

“All of a sudden he starts singing Lego House so we’re like hold on a minute – woah, woah, woah, woah,” Humes exclaimed as his bandmates laughed.

“So wait, Ed Sheeran had written a tune for us back in the day and we never heard of it, it never came to us!

“We could have had Lego House, that could have been our tune!” he added.

JLS insisted they never would have turned down the Sheeran track had the opportunity reached them, joking they “could’ve been Ed Sheeran”.

The boyband will kick off their Beat Again Tour 2020 in November, starting in Dublin, Ireland.

They’re scheduled to play across the UK, including in Bournemouth, Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow and Liverpool.

The band will also play London’s O2 Arena on December 1, with the tour coming to an end in Nottingham the following night.
