Man Utd star Anthony Martial reveals secret to Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba partnership | Football | Sport

Manchester United star Anthony Martial believes hard work on the training ground was key to Bruno Fernandes’ and Paul Pogba’s fine performance against Sheffield United. The France international scored a hat-trick as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side picked up all three points. But he’s found time to praise his two team-mates after the final whistle.

Speaking to United’s official website, Martial praised Fernandes and Pogba and admitted the pair had been working hard on the training ground to strike up a rapport.

The duo lined up together for the first time against Sheffield United and impressed, helping the club pick up all three points.

And Martial said: “They’re both good players.

“In training, we practise a lot to link up so, today, was a very good game.

“We created a lot of chances, so I’m happy.”

On his hat-trick, Martial said: “I feel very good. It’s my first hat-trick in my career, so I hope I will score more.

“But we know he’s class, he’s got everything to be a top, top player.

“If he could just have the same enthusiasm as Marcus Rashford for the game.

“There’s no doubting Martial is a proper player but he seems to hide it.

“It seems sometimes he doesn’t seem interested but he was tonight.

“Maybe that’s what it is, to score early in every game he plays and he stays interested.”

Meanwhile, United legend Gary Neville says Martial has been helped by the signing of Fernandes in January.

The Portugal international played a part in Martial’s third goal against the Blades, which was delightfully finished by the 24-year-old.

“I think it’s a big moment,” Neville said on commentary. “He’s certainly had a better season I think as United have got better, with better players in and around him.

“If you think about that goal, the flick from Bruno Fernandes is wonderful, that’s the bit of magic in that goal. The rest of it is more simple.

“He’s been given his opportunity, he’s cried out to be given a chance as Manchester United’s No 9.

“He’s getting it, Rashford’s settled in on that left-hand side.

“With Fernandes closer to them, he’s now supplying the passes and the service that they need.”
