Princess Eugenie issues positive message despite coronavirus causing royal lockdown | UK | News

As the pandemic continues to dominate the news agenda, the princess of York decided to spread some positive news for a change. This comes following yesterday’s news which saw Boris Johnson announce a three week lockdown across the UK.

The Prime Minister made an address to the nation yesterday evening in which he ordered Britons to stay home.

He also ordered the closure of all shops selling “non-essential goods” as well as other premises including libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and places of worship.

However, despite the ongoing pandemic which has claimed the lives of 335 people in the UK, princess Eugenie has still found a way to spread positivity.

Taking to her Instagram stories on Sunday evening, the royal, 29, shared four posts in a bid to spread some light amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This includes worldwide acts of kindness.

In one of the photos, a man from Medellin, Colombia, can be seen peering into a car window holding a bag of food.

He then surprises the street vendor selling coconut candy by telling him he will pay $100 (£86) instead of $1 (87p) for his treat since he knows the street vendor isn’t selling a lot due to coronavirus precautions.

Another snap shared by the royal is a screenshot from a video originally posted to the Good News Movement Instagram account.

The caption reads: “On Friday at 8:45 am, 83 radio stations in 31 different countries played the same song simultaneously “You’ll Never Walk Alone” on the radio.

“The doctors and nurses in The Netherlands heard it and danced with Ambulance drivers through a glass.

“This effort is thanks to Dutch DJ 3FM Sander Hoogendoorn to show solidarity across borders.”

Princess Eugenie also posted a sweet mother’s day tribute to Sarah Ferguson, on Sunday.

The Princess said she wants to “celebrate Mumma” on Mother’s Day.

However, she wisely thanked people for “staying away” from elderly relatives.

Eugenie added that she wanted to celebrate all the mothers who are “being kept apart” from their children as a result of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Eugenie wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day!! Today I want to celebrate my mumma but also all the amazing mothers out there.

“I would like to celebrate all the mothers that can’t be with their children today because they are saving lives or keeping their distance to keep them and their children safe.

“Today and every day we should tell our loved ones how much we love and cherish them. #happymothersday #happy #mother”

Meanwhile, a decision has been made regarding the fate of Princess Beatrice’s wedding.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi had planned to get married at the end of May 2020.

However following the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic that has badly affected both Britain and Italy, the decision was made to put the wedding on hold.

With Boris Johnson banning public gatherings even a small wedding would have been virtually impossible.

The UK is now in a three week lockdown with police given new powers to enforce those who do not abide.

Mr. Johnson has warned the public police will have the power to fine those not following the new rules, and officers will be able to disperse gatherings.
