Tottenham are in the running for RB Salzburg sensation Patson Daka but he will not come cheap this summer. Spurs are desperately in need of a second centre-forward to provide support for talisman Harry Kane.

In the past two seasons Kane has had to endure lengthy spells on the sideline through injury, leaving Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura to spearhead the attack.

In 2018/19 he suffered two ankle injuries before rupturing his hamstring tendon in January against Southampton.

Luckily for Kane and Spurs, the halt in play due to the coronavirus crisis ensured he could finish the season and help Tottenham secure Europa League qualification.

While there was disappointment they missed out on the top four, the Europa League boosted their transfer budget and presents them with a chance of winning a trophy.

The Zambian struck 24 times in the Austrian Bundesliga last season after filling in for the departed Erling Haaland.

Salzburg feel as though they already have yet another gem on their hands in the form of the 21-year-old.

He recently tore Liverpool to shreds in a pre-season friendly, scoring twice in a 2-2 draw.

The performance has already seen Daka linked with a potential transfer to Liverpool while Manchester United have also been credited with interest.

Lille have already had an offer of around £25million rejected this summer. Daniel Levy would have to cough up in excess of £40m to have a chance at signing Daka.

His former coach Dan Kabwe of Malawi-based Power Dynames claims Daka could go on to become a great.

“When I saw Patson Daka, what came into my mind is this guy is the next Thierry Henry – and in no time he has proved it,” Kabwe told News Diggers.

“Where he is at Salzburg, it is a stepping stone. He has the potential to go further and meet other challenges. Daka is capable of making it (at the top level).

“He is an intelligent boy and full of talent. If the boy is already swimming in the deep end, why limit him?”
